Transfiguration Day 2 - Catholic Action For Faith and Family

Day Two – Transfiguration of the Lord

“For what profit comes to man from all the toil and anxiety of heart with which he has labored under the sun? All his days sorrow and grief are his occupation; even at night his mind is not at rest.” (Ecc. 2:22)

Everyone goes through struggles. It may seem that the cross we are carrying feels heavier.  When we feel lost, abandoned – even hopeless. Our minds may be flooded with thoughts and temptations from the evil one. Our hearts become troubled. Self-esteem may fall.

Prayer can change that, lifting our mood. Anxiety stress and depression melt away when the light of Christ’s Face begins to overcome the darkness:

O Jesus, when I am confronted by suffering, let the light of Your Countenance shine upon me!

O Jesus, when the world looks bleak around me, let the light of Your Countenance shine upon me!

O Jesus, when I am beset by depression, let the light of Your Countenance shine upon me!

O Jesus, when I am overshadowed by sorrow, let the light of Your Countenance shine upon me!

O Jesus, when things don’t make sense, let the light of Your Countenance shine upon me!

O Jesus, when it is hard to go on, let the light of Your Countenance shine upon me!

O Jesus, when hope begins to fade, let the light of Your Countenance shine upon me!

O Jesus, when the horizon seems distant and dark, let the light of Your Countenance shine upon me!

O Jesus, when stress affects my mind and body, let the light of Your Countenance shine upon me!

O Jesus, when I fail to recall the many graces You have given me, may I feel Your presence now and let the light of Your Countenance shine upon me!

My Lord Jesus Christ, before Your passion and death, Your face changed in appearance and You revealed Your glory to the disciples, Peter, James and John on Mount Tabor. May the Holy Catholic Church that You founded grow in love for You through the Holy Eucharist – the most sweet Body and Blood. I ask that it be a source of joy in all my trials and temptations. I beg You to guide my every word and deed, so that You will find it pure and pleasing. When any person or situation overwhelms me with fear, let me only look to the radiance of Your face as the solution to all my problems. In contemplating Your glorious Transfigured face, I place my needs before You. (Mention your intentions now and especially pray for the needs of Cardinal Burke, as well as his continued good health.) AMEN.
