Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Day 8 - Catholic Action For Faith and Family

Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel

July 14 – Day Eight

Daily Prayer

Immaculate Virgin and Queen of Carmel, thou art the hope of the sufferer and the consolation of the afflicted. Look not upon my sins, but remember only that I am a poor soul redeemed by the Precious Blood of Thy Son, and that my heart is sealed with the holy scapular. Hear my prayer and if it be for the glory of God, thy honor and for the salvation of my soul, grant what I ask in this novena. Amen.

8th Day

O Mother of Carmel, when my last hour shall sound; when I shall take thy holy Scapular into my trembling hands, fill my heart with confidence in it, and do thou, my loving Mother, receive my soul and offer it to thy sweet Jesus. Amen. Hail Mary (three times).

Flower of Carmel Prayer

O most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin assist me in this necessity. O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein you are my Mother.  O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech thee from the bottom of my heart, to succor me in this necessity; there is none that withstand your power. O show me herein you are my Mother.

O Mary conceived without sin,

Pray for us who have recourse to thee

(repeat 3 times)

Sweet Mother,

I place this cause in your hands.

(repeat 3 times)

Thoughts to Ponder:

Any day of the week is special when we receive the Holy Eucharist, but the taste is always sweeter on a Sunday, the day God has given us to worship Him at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

“When you are to receive Communion, think that you are about to perform the greatest and most worthy action that can be done, which is to receive the Lord God within yourself. Guard against going to Communion through habit or by chance; but go with actual devotion.”

Saint Mary Magdalen De Pazzi, Italian Carmelite Nun and Mystic

“What shall I say of my thanksgivings after Holy Communion? There are no moments in which I feel less consolation. And is not this very natural, seeing that my desire is to receive Our Lord’s visit, not for my own satisfaction, but solely for His pleasure. I imagine my soul to be as a plot of waste ground and beg the Blessed Virgin to remove from it all the rubbish – meaning its imperfections; then I beseech Her to erect thereon, a vast canopy worthy of Heaven and to decorate it with Her own treasures, and I invite all the Angels and Saints to come and sing canticles of love. It seems to me, then, that Jesus is pleased to see Himself so magnificently received; and I, I share His joy. All this does not hinder distractions and sleep from molesting me; therefore, it not rarely happens that I resolve to continue my thanksgiving all the day long, since I have made it so badly in the Choir.”
