Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Day 8 - Catholic Action For Faith and Family

Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel

July 14 – Day Eight

Daily Prayer

Immaculate Virgin and Queen of Carmel, thou art the hope of the sufferer and the consolation of the afflicted. Look not upon my sins, but remember only that I am a poor soul redeemed by the Precious Blood of Thy Son, and that my heart is sealed with the holy scapular. Hear my prayer and if it be for the glory of God, thy honor and for the salvation of my soul, grant what I ask in this novena. Amen.

8th Day

O Mother of Carmel, when my last hour shall sound; when I shall take thy holy Scapular into my trembling hands, fill my heart with confidence in it, and do thou, my loving Mother, receive my soul and offer it to thy sweet Jesus. Amen. Hail Mary (three times).

Flower of Carmel Prayer

O most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin assist me in this necessity. O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein you are my Mother.  O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech thee from the bottom of my heart, to succor me in this necessity; there is none that withstand your power. O show me herein you are my Mother.

O Mary conceived without sin,

Pray for us who have recourse to thee

(repeat 3 times)

Sweet Mother,

I place this cause in your hands.

(repeat 3 times)

Thoughts to Ponder:

There are many images depicting Our Lady of Mount Carmel ministering to the Holy Souls in Purgatory.  The Child Jesus or Our Lady is usually holding a Scapular; the Holy Souls are surrounded by fire, raising their hands and pleading for help. Our Lady is very faithful to all those who have devotedly worn the Scapular and comes to their aid, especially to those who have practiced chastity in their lifetime, according to their state in life. Remember that no sin-stained soul can enter heaven.  All faults must be mended, either in this world or the next. So, what happens to those souls who are greatly suffering and have no one to pray for them? Or loved ones, that we assume are in heaven but they are still lingering in Purgatory? Let us implore the Queen of the Holy Souls and never forget to pray for them daily.

O most holy Virgin, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, you are the joy of the Church Triumphant. the help of the Church Militant, and the comfort of the Church Suffering. Therefore, extend, we pray you, your merciful glance on those numerous souls who suffer in the fires of Purgatory and ask Your Son Jesus to free them, that they may be quickly admitted to the beatific vision of God. Remember O Holy Virgin, to help especially those souls that I am related to and those who are the most abandoned and devoid of help. O most merciful Virgin, ask Your Son, Jesus to drench them with His Precious Blood until they are comforted in the Heavenly glories. Amen.
