Exaltation Day 8 - Catholic Action For Faith and Family

Day Eight- The Exaltation of the Holy Cross – The 7 Sorrows of Our Lady

When we are overcome by sadness, fear, or suffering; when the pains of loss overwhelm us; when evil seems to have taken power; let us look to the cross and be filled with peace, knowing that Christ has walked this road and walks it now with us and with all our brothers and sisters.

Saint Teresa of Avila, Doctor of the Church

Jesus, Who because of Your burning love for us
willed to be crucified
and to shed Your Most Precious Blood
for the redemption and salvation of our souls,
look down upon us and grant the petition(s) we ask for

(Mention your petitions now. Ask Jesus to bestow abundant graces upon Cardinal Burke.)

We trust completely in Your Mercy.
Cleanse us from sin by Your Grace,
sanctify our work,
give us and all those who are dear to us our daily bread,
lighten the burden of our sufferings,
bless our families,
and grant to the nations,
so sorely afflicted,
Your Peace, which is the only true peace,
so that by obeying Your Commandments
we may come at last to the glory of Heaven. AMEN.

The Sixth Sorrow of the Blessed Virgin Mary:

Mary Receives the Body of Jesus in Her Arms

Pray 1 Our Father

Seeing the mother there with the disciple whom He loved, Jesus said to His mother. “Woman, there is your son.”

Pray 1 Hail Mary

In turn, He said to the disciple, “There is your mother.” From that hour onward, the disciple took her into his care.

Pray 1 Hail Mary

Jesus uttered a loud cry and said, “Father, into Your Hands I commend My Spirit.”

Pray 1 Hail Mary

One of the soldiers thrust a lance into His side and immediately Blood and Water flowed out.

Pray 1 Hail Mary

Suddenly the curtain of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked, boulders split, tombs opened.

Pray 1 Hail Mary

When the crowd which had assembled for this spectacle saw what had happened, they went home beating their breasts.

Pray 1 Hail Mary

Then, having brought a linen shroud, Joseph took Him down.

Pray 1 Hail Mary

Mary, full of Mercy, remind our hearts of the suffering of Jesus during His Passion.

O MARY, sorrowful Virgin and Mother of all Christians, pray for us and hear my intentions which I now present to you. (Mention your intentions now and especially ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to bestow many graces upon Cardinal Burke.)
