Holy Saturday and Easter, April 11th-12th, 2020

Holy Saturday is another day in the Sacred Triduum on which we do not celebrate any Masses in the morning or afternoon. The only Mass that can be celebrated is the Easter Vigil, which by long-standing custom is supposed to begin after sundown on Saturday.

Today is the 1st of the month when we all pray the rosary together in union with Cardinal Burke. I went to St. Therese of Carmel church a few minutes from my home to pray at the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. I prayed a rosary, the litany of Our Lady and, as it was 12:00 and the bells began to toll, I prayed the Angelus for all of our members. As Lourdes is a shrine where many miraculous cures have occurred, I prayed especially for all the sick and suffering.

May Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Lady of Fatima bless you and protect you now and always!

Cardinal Raymond Burke has said that if the family synod opened the way for divorced and remarried Catholics to receive Holy Communion then it has “departed from Catholic teaching in a very fundamental matter”.

The cardinal, patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, made the comments in an interview with Mass of Ages, the quarterly magazine of the Latin Mass Society.

The “I Want You” recruiting poster featuring a grim-faced Uncle Sam pointing his finger at the observer was hardly a necessary motivator for the men of the World War I & II generations to join the army. Millions of young men ran to the war and enthusiastically joined the war effort, which must have made old Uncle Sam deeply proud of the youth of America.

Would Uncle Sam get the same response from America’s youth today? Does our culture produce men of such character now, men who will drop everything to join principled efforts to defend country, church, family and innocents?
