The First Sorrow of the Blessed Virgin Mary:
Simeon Prophesies That A Sword of Sorrow Will Pierce Mary’s Soul.
Pray 1 Our Father
There lived in Jerusalem, at that time, a certain man named Simeon. He was just and pious, and awaited the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
Pray 1 Hail Mary
Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, His Mother, “This Child is destined to be the downfall and the rise of many in Israel, a sign that will be opposed.”
Pray 1 Hail Mary
“And you yourself shall be pierced with a sword-so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare”
Pray 1 Hail Mary
“Yet He shall be a snare, an obstacle and a stumbling stone to both the Houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to those who dwell in Jerusalem.”
Pray 1 Hail Mary
“Behold, I am placing in Zion a stone to make men stumble and a rock to make them fall; but he who believes in Him will not be put to shame.”
Pray 1 Hail Mary
“A stone which the builders rejected that became a cornerstone.”
Pray 1 Hail Mary
When the parents had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee and their own town of Nazareth.
Pray 1 Hail Mary

The Second Sorrow of the Blessed Virgin Mary:
Joseph, Mary and the Child Jesus Flee into Egypt
Pray 1 Our Father
After they had left, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared in a dream to Joseph, with this command: “Get up, take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt.”
Pray 1 Hail Mary
“Stay there until I tell you otherwise. Herod is searching for the Child to destroy Him.”
Pray 1 Hail Mary
Joseph got up and took the Child and His Mother and left that night for Egypt.
Pray 1 Hail Mary
He stayed there until the death of Herod, to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet.
Pray 1 Hail Mary
“Out of Egypt I have called My Son”
Pray 1 Hail Mary
But after Herod’s death, the angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt with the command, “Get up, take the Child and His mother, and set out for the land of Israel.”
Pray 1 Hail Mary
He heard, however, that Archelaus had succeeded his father Herod as king of Judea, and he was afraid to go back there. Instead, because of the warning received in a dream, Joseph went to the region of Galilee.
Pray 1 Hail Mary
Mary, full of Mercy, remind our hearts of the suffering of Jesus during His Passion.
The Third Sorrow of the Blessed Virgin Mary:
Jesus is Lost in the Temple
Pray 1 Our Father
And when He was twelve they went up for the celebration as was their custom.
Pray 1 Hail Mary
As they were returning at the end of the feast, the Child Jesus remained behind unknown to His parents.
Pray 1 Hail Mary
Not finding Him, they returned to Jerusalem in search of Him.
Pray 1 Hail Mary
“Son, why have you done so to us? You see that Your father and I have been searching for You in sorrow.”
Pray 1 Hail Mary
“Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house?”
Pray 1 Hail Mary
But they did not grasp what He had said to them.
Pray 1 Hail Mary
He went down with them then, and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them. His mother meanwhile, kept all these things in memory.
Pray 1 Hail Mary
Mary, full of Mercy, remind our hearts of the suffering of Jesus during His Passion.
O desolate Mother Mary, consumed with grief and filled with anguish, your soul was pierced by a sword of sorrow at the sight of the passion of your Divine Son, ask Him to have mercy on us and on the whole world. Please pray for us and hear my intentions which I now present to you. (Mention your intentions now and especially ask for an abundance of grace to be bestowed upon Cardinal Burke) AMEN.
