Fatima feast day celebration: Commemorating the 104th anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady at Fatima

Catholic Action for Faith and Family commemorated the Fatima feast day, May 13th, with what they called a Marian Holy hour and May Crowning which was presided over by Bishop Ramon Bejarano. The event was live streamed to tens of thousands of Catholic Action Rosary Warriors around the world who Stormed Heaven along with several hundred faithful, including many school children from San Diego and the surrounding area that attended locally.

The event opened with a procession into the church where a replica of the International Pilgrim Virgin statue was carried on the shoulders of four men. Faithful followed and they were led by Bishop Ramon Bejarano, auxiliary Bishop of San Diego. The Founder and President of Catholic Action, Thomas McKenna, welcomed the faithful and explained that last year, during the pandemic, not being able to do other programs inspired him to reach out to Fr. Anthony Saroki of Our Lady of Mount Carmel church to organize a virtual May Crowning. Experience the Marian Holy Hour and May Crowning; recording available now.

It was such a success, they decided to repeat it this year and it was even better because the event was blessed with several hundred people participating in the church together.

Thomas McKenna explained how those participating were united together in prayer with thousands around the world to ask for reparation as Our Lady had asked at Fatima.

Following Mr. McKenna, Bishop Bejarano’s address offered very inspiring words of how the faithful should strive to bring prayer more fully into their daily lives. He explained that sometimes it may take sacrifice and effort, but that will be rewarded with consolation and inspiration.

Following his address, the Bishop blessed the crown of flowers with holy water and then it was placed on the head of the Blessed Mother by a young girl. Then the Bishop reverenced the statue with incense and following that, lead the faithful in the recitation of the Glorious Mysteries of the most Holy Rosary and then the litany to the Blessed Mother.

To conclude the event, Bishop Bejarano went forward and gave a formal blessing to all the faithful with a reliquary containing first class relics of Saint Jacinta and Saint Francisco, two of the children to whom Our Lady had appeared to at Fatima. The event was blessed with inspiring Marian hymns throughout. As the Bishop processed out giving his blessing, tears could be seen in the eyes of some. Throughout the day, we drew our focus on the Queen of Peace.

Together, let us continue to invoke her aid as a loving mother to intercede with her Son to bring comfort and a divine reprieve to all of us.

Also, let us storm Heaven so the graces of Faith, Hope, and Divine Charity may abound throughout the world. May Our Lady of Fatima bless you and your loved ones now and always!
